We now have winners for our 2008 Christmas Competition!
On offer was the beautiful and stunning frilled bowl shown in the photo below!
This prize was worth £95 so we had a tough task for you!
We asked you to:
-
Write 2-4 lines in rhyme explaining what you like about this prize and why you feel you should be the one to win it!
We had so many entries! Some were excellent, some were truly atrocious! We spent a long while carefully judging all the entries: a very tough task.
In the end, we have decided to award a main prize and some additional prizes too - two for quality of effort and rhyming skills and one additional one for the funniest rhyme.
The overall winner is Beverly Kerry from Derbyshire. Her entry:
BOWLED over by its beauty,
Feeling BLUE that its not mine,
I would be FRILLED it came to me,
Cos the bowl is simply divine!
Our warmest congratulations Beverly! The bowl is on its way to you!
We awarded two runner-up prizes:
- One runner-up prize has been awarded to Sylvia Witham from Essex who sent in the following rhyme:
Round and blue and white and grand
I'd love to have this in my hand
To love and cherish while I'm here
And pass on to my family dear.
- And an additional runner-up prize has been awarded to Ruth Magness from Powys:
Spanner sets and model trains, computer games and toys
I do feel so outnumbered by a husband and three boys!
I'd love to sit and look at something beautiful and frilled
So if I win this bowl I will be absolutely thrilled!
Congratulations to Sylvia and Ruth: you both win smaller frilled bowls!
And we awarded a prize for the funniest rhyme to Sally Whitehead from Gloucestershire who sent in the following entry:
Strong, practical, reliable and true
-if only Country Traditionals made men too!
Of course, Sally wins a Country Traditionals Candlestick MAN!
Thank-you all so much for entering! We hope you had fun, even if you didn't win. We certainly loved reading all your entries!
